Sam and Kayleigh Whitworth own and run Deben Boatyard, supported by a small, dedicated team who share a genuine passion for boats and life on the water. With extensive experience in boatbuilding, marine engineering and sailing, the team is committed to delivering reliable workmanship and a friendly, personal service.

In 2026, we acquired the yard — formerly Larkman’s Boatyard — from the Larkman family. We are extremely grateful to them for the outstanding care and service they provided to customers over many years, and we are proud to continue that legacy on the River Deben.

Family-run and hands-on, Deben Boatyard offers a full range of marine services including maintenance, repairs, winter storage, commissioning and bespoke care. Located right on the riverside, our experienced team works closely with each customer to keep boats safe, reliable and ready to enjoy.

We believe good service starts with clear communication and honest advice. Whether you’re a weekend sailor, liveaboard or professional skipper, we take the time to understand your needs and recommend practical solutions that suit both your boat and your budget.
